DESCRIPTION: APW – Hamilton, Grade 947 (marked), 23J, 18S, gold-filled original Keystone HC with very attractive engraving and engine turning detail, Montgomery white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, ornate nickel damascene, s#163945. An exquisite example of this rare top grade hunting case Hamilton. Total production of the Grade 947 is 310 made and this particular serial number is listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as having been sold on June 17th, 1914 to the Non-Retailing Company. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates, few small fine or micro-fine scratches, scattered tiny specks of oxide on regulator assembly; near flawless dial with only a minuscule edge flake under bezel near 2; excellent hands, minute with some oxide, seconds and hour hands have very minor bits of oxide; case shows very little wear, shallow dent on rear shoulder adjacent opening lip, excellent engraving and engine turning detail; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
